The Prophecy of God

The Descendant or “Son” of David?
Revealed on August 22, 2005
As we have
been taught by the religions, It is believed that Jesus was the only one chosen
and sent from the house of David. Let us now try to understand the true nature
of Jesus, and the mission he was tasked to undertake. Was he really a "son of
God" or a "son of David."
Who was the
descendant of David?
But you will have a son who will be a man of peace and rest, and I
will give him rest
from all his enemies on every side. His name will be Solomon, and
I will grant Israel peace and quiet during his reign.
1 Chronicles 22:9 (NIV)
Solomon was
the son, the direct descendant of David chosen to fulfill the prophecy.
"Solomon" – means "peace", this was his sign. The religions did not teach
us that the first to take up the prophecy was Solomon.
Jesus was
not the first to take up the Prophecy of revealing or showing, only to the
Israelites, the Name of God. It was not intended to be revealed to all the
people of the world during his time.
Solomon,
the name, means peace. Maestro Eraño M. Evangelista says that the whole world
wants peace. Did we ever have peace in our time? It had always eluded us.
Nations spend a huge portion of their national budget on armaments only to
preserve peace. Maestro Eraño M. Evangelista says the most important thing in this
world is "peace" or "rest". Even if you are the richest man in the world but
you can't find peace, it is not a good life. Even if this world can offer you
the best of everything, without peace, all is nothing, you can't enjoy life.
What was the
descendant's work for God?
He is the one who will build a house for my Name. He will be my
son, and I will be his father. And I will establish the throne of his kingdom
over Israel forever.'
1 Chronicles 22:10 (NIV)
He was
given the task of building a house with the Name of God; it is a confirmation of
the prophecy given before in II Samuel 7:12-14, so that his people
will see the Name and call on God.
"He will be my son, and I will be his father"
- Solomon was the first to receive the anointing of God. If successful, he will
be called a "son of God", a title to be given for his achievement, though he is
a true son of David.
Jesus was
not the first to be promised with the title of being “called” the “son of God.”
And...
"Now, my son, the LORD be with you, and may you have success and build the house
of the LORD your God, as he said you would. May the LORD give you discretion
and understanding when he puts you in command over Israel, so that you may keep
the law of the LORD your God. Then you will have success if you are careful to
observe the decrees and laws that the LORD gave Moses for Israel. Be strong and
courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged.
1 Chronicles 22:11-13 (NIV)
This was the reminder that God gave to Solomon, for him to be strong and to
obey the commandments. Let us see if Solomon followed God's instructions...
Maestro Evangelista asks; did Solomon succeed? Was Solomon successful in making
his people know the Name of God?
King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh's
daughter -Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians and Hittites. They were from
nations about which the LORD had told the Israelites, "You must not intermarry
with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods."
Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love.
1 Kings 11:1-2 (NIV)
Solomon had many wives from different nations and kingdoms, and it is not
from marrying them that he might commit a sin, but that his wives might turn his
heart away from God. What was the law concerning having wives from other
tribes?
When the LORD
your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess and drives out
before you many nations - the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites,
Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites, seven nations larger and stronger than you -
and when the LORD your God has delivered them over to you and you have defeated
them, then you must destroy them totally. Make no treaty with them, and show
them no mercy. Do not intermarry with them. Do not give your daughters to
their sons or take their daughters for your sons, for they will turn your sons
away from following me to serve other gods, and the LORD's anger will burn
against you and will quickly destroy you. This is what you are to do to them:
Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones,
cut down their
Asherah poles and burn their idols in the fire.
Deuteronomy 7:1-5 (NIV)
It is clear that by intermarrying with or by having wives from other nations
there was a possibility that in time, his heart may be turned away from God.
How many wives did Solomon have? Did the prohibited act happen to Solomon?
He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and
his wives led him astray. As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after
other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the LORD his God, as the
heart of David his father had been. He followed Ashtoreth the goddess of the
Sidonians, and Molech the detestable god of the Ammonites. Thus, Solomon did
evil in the eyes of the LORD, he did not follow the LORD completely, as David
his father had done.
On a hill east of Jerusalem, Solomon built a high place for Chemosh
the detestable god of Moab, and for Molech the detestable god of the Ammonites.
He did the same for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and offered
sacrifices to their gods.
1 Kings 11:3-8 (NIV)
He built other
temples for the gods of his wives. What did God do to Solomon?
The LORD became angry with Solomon because his heart had turned
away from the LORD, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice. Although
he had forbidden Solomon to follow other gods, Solomon did not keep the LORD's
command. So the LORD said to Solomon, "Since this is your attitude and you have
not kept my covenant and my decrees, which I commanded you, I will most
certainly tear the kingdom away from you and give it to one of your
subordinates. Nevertheless, for the sake of David your father, I will not do it
during your lifetime. I will tear it out of the hand of your son.
1 Kings 11:9-12 (NIV)
Solomon
disobeyed God, and what would be the punishment according to the prophecy given
before? Let us read again in the prophecy given to his father, David:
When your days are over and you rest with your fathers, I will
raise up your offspring to succeed you, who will come from your own body, and I
will establish his kingdom.
He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the
throne of his kingdom forever. I will be his father, and he will be my son.
When he does wrong, I will punish him with the rod of men, with floggings
inflicted by men.
II Samuel 7:12-14 (NIV)
With what
he had done, we know Solomon was not punished by men, nor was he killed in any
manner.
But my love will never be taken away from him, as I took it away
from Saul, whom I removed from before you.
II Samuel 7:15 (NIV)
Is it true
God was merciful to Solomon? How did he die?
As for the other events of Solomon's reign - all he did and the
wisdom he displayed - are they not written in the book of the annals of Solomon?
Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years. Then he rested with
his fathers and was buried in the city of David his father. And Rehoboam his
son succeeded him as king.
1 Kings 11:41-43 (NIV)
Solomon
died a natural death; he was not punished by men. Solomon was the direct
descendant of David, God was merciful to him because of his father, and said
that only his kingdom will be taken away from him. If the prophecy will end
with Solomon, what will happen to the house with the Name of God that remained
unknown due to the numerous temples which Solomon built? How will his people
find the house with the Name of God?
The question
now is: Who will continue the prophecy of showing the house with Name of God to
his people?
Yet I will not tear the whole kingdom from him, but will give him
one tribe for the sake of David my servant and for the sake of Jerusalem, which
I have chosen."
1 Kings 11:13 (NIV)
Let us read about the promised one, another descendant who will come from
the House of David. Who
was he?
